Maps
I have produced various maps of widely varying technical
difficulty for McDougall-Littell
and Three Communication
Design from simple, illustrative, black and white
maps to highly-detailed, historically-accurate, full-color
topographical maps and frames for animated video maps.
US Physical Map

This map was produced for McDougall-Littell's American history
project "The Americans" during a series of projects
in which I produced many dozens of maps, both four color and
line art. It was the most difficult of a series of maps which
required precision alignment between elements produced in
PhotoShop, Illustrator, and QuarkXPress. This required integration
with data from the U.S.
Geological Survey at a time when desktop tools were quite
crude. I am enormously proud of this map.
Chapter Openers

This project, also for McDougall-Littell's "The Americans",
required assembling a team of expert assistants. Maps were
constructed in PhotoShop and Illustrator often synthesized
from many sources which were of incompatible projections
while callouts were constructed in QuarkXPress. Every element
was precisely aligned so that Quark elements would cast shadows
into the PhotoShop layer, creating a sense of physical depth.
